Professor of Integrative Geography at the University of Hamburg, Beatte Ratter is also head of the Department of Human Dimensions in Coastal Areas at the Institute of Coastal Research, Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht. She spent the last 25 years studying boundaries and Maritime Delimitation for Islands and became expert on impact of maritime delimitation processes and regional cultural development in islands.
