Responsible Government. The Essence of Public Accountability

Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2015 in the subject Politics - International Politics - Region: Africa, , language: English, abstract: The study stems out of the growing concern among key governance stakeholders such as citizens, civil societies, political parties, international development organizations among other actors on the need to ensure accountability of public officials and improved public service delivery. The paper employs historical method to reveal the essence and domains of the concept of public accountability. The study traces the roots of the word and provides the justification for 'accountor' and 'accountee' behavior and relationship. Finally, the study outlines the importance of the concept in modern day politics

Samuel Asamoah is a young Public Policy Analyst, a Researcher and an Author in the field of public accountability and transparency in governance. Samuel has the experience in engaging directly with African youth, national and regional stakeholders´ network and personnel whose mandates are to strengthen and sustain transparency and public accountability in governance in Ghana and Africa. My goal is to ensure that African youth are fully empowered and developed to contribute to the development of their countries and communities. I seek to help strengthen and create sustainable platforms to ensure effective formulation and implementation of public policies and programs that yield sustainable outcomes and impact-oriented results in Africa.
